AI Twins. AI Influencers. Sora Actors.
Fuck those, respectfully.
Welcome to today’s Substack where I’ll keep my thoughts brief but intentional.
Last weekend, I tapped into my inner child and painted. Just me, a bottle of prosecco, a paintbrush, a canvas, my headphones, and my swimsuit. I silenced everything: calls, meetings, notifications. The world could wait.
I’d been taking in so much information that I felt like I was learning and living on autopilot. My brain had turned into a ChatGPT output, spitting things out without pausing to think.
My body was craving nature, silence, sunlight, and God. Thankfully, I have a small backyard paradise to retreat to. That’s where I asked myself the real question:
“What will last?”
Or more precisely, what form of digital currency will endure as the AI noise gets louder?
And the answer hit me: personal brands.
The Currency of Trust
Think about it. Every human alive today has “trusted sources” that match their beliefs. Politics proves this every day. People stay loyal to public figures even when the facts crumble. Right, wrong, or indifferent, that’s the power of personal branding.
Let that sink in.
People will override truth, logic, and reason if they trust the person delivering the message.
That’s what we have now on social media. You and I can cultivate loyal fan bases of people who’ve never met us but who feel us through a six-inch screen. They sense our authenticity (or lack thereof). They feel our care, our curiosity, our chaos. They’ll trust us enough to buy our product, take our advice, or even relocate their lives because we said so.
That is the power of a personal brand.
The Formula: How Connection Converts to Currency
1. Time Builds Bonds
Parasocial research from YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram consistently shows that more hours spent with a creator lead to stronger emotional connections.
A 2024 YouTube study with 424 participants found that the more time users spent watching a single creator each week, the stronger their sense of connection became. Live-stream audiences form faster bonds because they get real-time feedback, that “they saw me” moment when a streamer reacts to chat.
Here’s a real-world breakdown:
Name recognition: about 1–2 hours a month of exposure
“I feel like I know them” parasocial bond: 5–10 hours a month
Superfan or community level: dozens of hours over time
StubHub reported a 500% year-over-year increase in creator-led live events in 2025, proof that online loyalty converts into offline dollars.
Consumers today need an average of 28 or more touchpoints before they buy. Personal brands compress that journey because trust replaces friction.
2. Authentic > Polished
Here’s the data:
Consumers are 54% more likely to buy from relatable creators than from polished brand content.
Authenticity directly predicts purchase intent (Taylor & Francis, 2024).
Kantar found influencer content holds attention 2.2 times longer than standard ads.
Translation? Your unfiltered iPhone clip can outperform a $50,000 commercial if people feel you.
Authentic creators convert because of credibility and homophily, that “you remind me of me” effect. That’s what drives engagement, loyalty, and spending.
3. Polarizing Content Drives Reach (But Not Retention)
The data doesn’t lie:
Facebook’s internal algorithm once valued angry reactions five times more than likes (The Washington Post).
Moral and emotional words make political tweets 17% more viral (PNAS).
Tulane University’s 2024 “confrontation effect” study found people engage more with content they disagree with.
So yes, being polarizing gets attention. But research also says outrage spikes rarely lead to long-term loyalty (Nature, 2025).
Be bold enough to stand out, but wise enough to sustain.
4. Repetition = Recognition = Revenue
In 2025, the average buyer needs 20 to 30 touchpoints before taking action.
For cold audiences, it can take 50.
That’s why consistent posting works. It compresses the calendar of trust.
Creators who increase watch time by 200 to 300 percent see explosive growth (Google Business). Loyalty is earned through rhythm, not randomness.
Your Brand Is the Asset
In a crowded digital world, people aren’t looking for products. They’re looking for their person.
Once they find you, loyalty becomes currency.
I’ve received free hotel stays, travel, partnerships worth hundreds of thousands, luxury perks, and access, all because of my brand. My personal brand is my face card and résumé.
But this isn’t about me, it’s about you.
There’s a loyal fan base waiting to hear your message. Waiting for your tone, your transparency, your vulnerability. You might say the same thing someone else said, but when it comes from you, it hits different.
Your voice will build your following.
Your consistency will build your currency.
And your authenticity will build your empire.
AI will keep evolving, but trust will always be the human advantage. Technology might amplify our reach, but it’s our truth that sustains it. The future isn’t humans or AI. The future is humans with AI, and personal brands are the bridge.
Start now. 2026 belongs to those who show up as themselves.
